Let H represent the Hilbert space of holomorphic functions on a complex plane domain \(\Omega\), and for each point \(\gamma\) in \(\Omega\), let \(k_{\gamma}\) be the functional such that \(f(\gamma)=k_{\gamma}(f)\). In the main theorem of this paper the authors state that if, for each point \(\gamma\), \(k_{\gamma}\) is bounded on H, then there is a vector a in H which is cyclic for the adjoint of every non-scalar multiplication operator on H, so that if \(M_{\phi}: H\to H\) is representable by \(M_{\phi}(f)=\phi f\), where \(\phi\) is a complex-valued function on \(\Omega\), and has adjoint \(M'_{\phi}\), then \[ \{z=\sum^{N}_{j=0}\rho_ jM^ j_{\phi}(a),\quad N=0,1,2,3,...\} \] is a dense subspace of H. Statements in the introduction of the paper refer to earlier results of \textit{A. L. Shields} and \textit{I. J. Wallen} [Indiana Univ. Math. J. 20, 777-788 (1971; Zbl 0207.138)], involving commutants of multiplication by z, and of \textit{W. R. Wogen} [Indiana Univ. Math. J. 27, 163-171 (1978; Zbl 0347.47014)], involving the Hardy space \(H^ 2\).
