The authors show that one of the three known flag-transitive affine planes of order 27 can be obtained from one of the others by replacement of a net of degree 14. [The planes involved are not the ones due to \textit{F. Hering}, Abh. Math. Semin. Univ. Hamb. 34, 203-208 (1970; Zbl 0195.502)].
