The authors consider a certain measurement of the rate of convergence of several means against a given function \(f\in L_ 1(T_ n)\), \(T_ n\) being an n-dimensional torus. These approximation inequalities are related to Besov spaces \(B^ s_{p,q}(T_ n)\), the periodic Lizorkin- Triebel spaces \(F^ s_{p,q}(T_ n)\) and spaces of Hardy-Sobolev type. The authors' main interest is to the case p,q\(\leq 1\). For this case, the standard methods that work in the case \(p\geq 1\) cannot be applied. Thus the authors need some powerful techniques based upon inequalities of Nikol'skij type, vector-valued inequalities for the Hardy-Littlewood maximal function, as well as some recent developments in the theory of the spaces \(F^ s_{p,q}(T_ n)\). Finally, the authors apply their general results to derive results for Abel-Poisson, Bessel-potential and Riesz means.
