Among other results, the author shows that on a BP\({}^*\)-algebra [which were introduced and studied by this reviewer and \textit{S. A. Warsi}: Math. Japon, 21, 237-247 (1976; Zbl 0344.46104) and Period. Math. Hungar. 8, 15-28 (1977; Zbl 0329.46056)], there exists a finest locally convex \({}^*\)-algebra topology having the same bounded hermitian idempotent subsets. This leads to an improvement of a result due to Husain and Warsi (see above) that each positive functional on a unital barrelled (or Q-) \(BP^*\)-algebra is continuous.
