The abscissa of the point of intersection of the tangents of the graph of a convex function at two points is a mean-value of the abscissae of those two points. As generalizations, the author defines mean-values as abscissae of the point of intersection of Taylor or Hermite polynomials of odd degree n to \(C^{n+1}\) functions, convex of order n, at two points. He offers results on these means, in particular inequalities, limits, expansions, and determines the functions to which certain means (arithmetic, geometric, harmonic) and classes of means (homogeneous) belong; for some of them he promises ``details of proof upon request''. Two related means are also examined.
