    For a compact set \(K\subset [0,1]^ I\), K(I) denotes the set of all \((x_ i)_ i\in K\) with \(\{\) \(i\in I\); \(x_ i\neq 0\}\) at most countable. The author says that a compact topological space D belongs to the class \({\mathcal A}\) if D is homeomorphic to a compact subset K of some cube \([0,1]^ I\) for which K(I) is dense in K. \({\mathcal A}\) clearly contains the Corson compact spaces. The main result of the present article reads as follows: Let \(K\in {\mathcal A}\) be infinite and \(\mu\) the first ordinal with \(| \mu |\) \(=\) density character of K. Then there is a family \(\{K_{\alpha}\); \(\omega\leq \alpha \leq \mu \}\) of compact subsets of K with \(K_{\alpha}\in {\mathcal A}\), together with a family of linear extension operators \(T_{\alpha}: C(K_{\alpha})\to C(K)\), \(\omega\leq \alpha \leq \mu\), such that \(\{P_{\alpha}\); \(\omega\leq \alpha \leq \mu \}\), \(P_{\alpha}f=T_{\alpha}(f|_{K_{\alpha}})\) for \(f\in C(K)\), yields a projective resolution of identity in C(K). It follows that for the continuous image K of a compact space in \({\mathcal A}\), C(K) admits an equivalent locally uniformly rotund norm.
