    let (\({\mathcal A},\Gamma,\alpha,d)\) be a quantum algebra, i.e. \({\mathcal A}\) is a unital \(C^*\)-algebra with a \({\mathbb{Z}}_ 2\) grading \(\Gamma\), \(\alpha_ t\) a continuous one-parameter automorphism group of \({\mathcal A}\) which commutes with \(\Gamma\) and let \({\mathcal A}^ e=e{\mathcal A}e\), \(d^ ea:=e(da)e\). Then \(d^ e\) is a super derivation and \(d^ ee=0\). Let \(\omega\) be a super-KMS functional on the quantum algebra (\({\mathcal A},\Gamma,\alpha_ t,d)\), i.e. \(\omega\) is a continuous linear functional on \({\mathcal A}\) such that on the subalgebra of entire elements for \(t\to \alpha_ t\omega (da)=0\) and \(\omega (ab)=\omega (b^{\Gamma}\alpha_ i(a))\). \(\omega_ e\) on \({\mathcal A}^ e\) is defined by \(\omega_ e(a)=\omega^ q(a)\), where \(\omega^ q\) is a certain super-KMS functional constructed by perturbation theory and analytic continuation of the wave operator. Then \(\omega_ e\) is a super-KMS functional for (\({\mathcal A}^ e,\Gamma,\alpha^ e_ t,d^ e)\). The index of the super derivation \(d^ e\) on a quantum algebra (\({\mathcal A}^ e,\Gamma,\alpha^ e,d^ e)\) with respect to a super-KMS functional \(\omega_ e\) is defined by \(i_{\omega_ e}(d^ e)=\omega_ e(1)=\omega_ e(e)\). Let \(\tau\) be the Chern character of \({\mathcal A}\) in cyclic cohomology. Theorem. \(<\tau,e>\) is well-defined and \(<\tau,e>=i_{\omega_ e}(d^ e)\).
