Given a sequence \(S=\{x_ k\}\) in a Banach space E we define R(S) and WR(S) as the set of those \(x\in E\) that may be obtained as the sum of a rearranged series \(\sum x_{n(k)}\) resp. as the weak sum of such a series. The author showed in 1986 that, in every infinite dimensional Banach space, there exists a sequence S with nonlinear R(S). The present result: there exists a sequence S in Hilbert space and two points a, b such that a,b\(\in R(S)\) but \((a+b)\not\in WR(S).\) Earlier techniques of the author's show that this result carries over to any infinite dimensional Banach space.
