After having presented in an extended introduction all the difficulties and drawbacks encountered in the evaluation and computation of singular scalar or vector values singular integrals which may often appear in solid or fluid mechanics, the authors distinguish two ways of study: (i) the integration domain is fixed and the limit is reached for a singular point of the integrand; (ii) the singular point is fixed in the integrand and the integration domain tends to the domain which contains the singular point. Many references are quoted of previous works where Cauchy principal values or improper integrals are involved depending on the case. Finally after detailed computations and discussions, limit expressions, useful limiting values for a scalar source strength, a vector vortex strength and a scalar dipole strength are given. It is worth noting that unfortunately no references nor use are made of the well-known and exhaustive monumental admitted distribution theory of Laurent Schwartz with all appropriate theorems [\textit{L. Schwartz}, Theorie des distributions (1966; Zbl 0149.095); Methodes mathematiques pour les sciences physiques (1961; Zbl 0101.413)].
