Let D be an open set in \({\mathbb{R}}^ p\), \(p\geq 3\), and \(E^+\), \(E^-\) be non-empty closed sets in D. The triple \((E^+,E^-,D)\) is called a condenser (in D) if sup\(\{\) g(x,y): \(x\in E^+\), \(y\in E^-\}<+\infty\), where g(x,y) is the Green function of D. The author considers the problem of minimization of the Green energy in the class of charges \(\nu =\nu^+-\nu^-\), where \(\nu^+\) and \(\nu^-\) are unit measures with supports in \(E^+\) and \(E^-\) respectively. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a solution to the problem are obtained.
