Many authors studied stability properties of functional equations. It is known that any unbounded approximate solution of the Cauchy functional equation \(f(x+y)=f(x)f(y)\) must be an exact solution. Such a phenomenon is called superstability. The author shows that superstability is a direct consequence of the simple algebraic fact that the eigenfunction corresponding to a common eigenvector of a set of endomorphisms has a multiplicative property. The main result of the paper is: Let H be a module over the division ring R, \(\Phi\subset End H\) a semigroup, \(H_ 0\subset H\) a \(\Phi\)-invariant submodule and \(\lambda: \Phi\to R\) a function. If \(h\in H\) is such that \(\phi (h)-\lambda (\phi)h\in H_ 0\) for any \(\phi\) in \(\Phi\), then either \(h\in H_ 0\) or \(\lambda\) is an antihomomorphism of \(\Phi\).
