The group of braids \({\mathfrak B}_{n+1}\) \((n>0)\) with \(n+1\) threads is defined with the help of generators \(\sigma_ 1,...,\sigma_ n\) and defining relations \(\sigma_ i\sigma_{i+1}\sigma_ i=\sigma_{i+1}\sigma_ i\sigma_{i+1}\) \((i=1,...,n-1)\), \(\sigma_ i\sigma_ j=\sigma_ j\sigma_ i\), \(| i-j| >1\) \((i,j=1,...n)\). It is proved in the present paper that any two braids A and B from the braid group \({\mathfrak B}_ n\), which are conjugate in the braid group \({\mathfrak B}_{n+1}\), are also conjugate in the group \({\mathfrak B}_ n\). A direct consequence is the following more general assertion: If braids A and B defined in the group \({\mathfrak B}_ n\), are conjugate in the group \({\mathfrak B}_ p\) \((p>n)\), then A and B are conjugate in \({\mathfrak B}_ n\).
