The authors consider problems of the following kind. Let \(f,f_ 1,...,f_ r\) be analytic functions on an analytic manifold M. If the restrictions \(f| A\) to a family of analytic curves A are polynomials in \(f_ 1/A,...,f_ r/A\), when can we conclude that f is a polynomial in \(f_ 1,...,f_ r\)?
