The paper deals with the Cauchy problem for the system of two parabolic quasilinear equations \[ \partial_ tu_ j=\nabla ((1+u_ j^ 2)^{\mu_ j/2})\cdot (1+| \nabla u_ j|^ 2)^{\nu_ j/2}\nabla u_ j)+u_ 1^{p_ j}u_ 2^{q_ j},\quad t>0 \] \[ u_ j(x,0)=u_ j^ 0(x),\quad x\in {\mathbb{R}}^ N,\quad u_ j^ 0(X)\in C({\mathbb{R}}^ n),\quad j=1,2. \] The nonnegative unbounded solution is considered. Let \(t_ 0\leq \infty\) be the time of the existence and \(x=0\) be ``a point of singularity'' of unbounded solution so that \(\limsup_{t\to T_ 0}\{u_ 1(0,t)+u_ 2(0,t)\}=+\infty.\) It is established that some general properties of the solution depend on the sign of the combination of the parameters \(m=s/n_ 1\), where \(s=q_ 1q_ 2-\ell_ 1\ell_ 2,\ell_ j=\mu_ j+\nu_ j+1-p_ j\), \(n_ j=(2+\nu_ i)q_ j+(2+\nu_ j)\ell_ i\), \(j,i=1,2\). The main results are: if \(n_ 1n_ 2>0\), \(m<0\) then the solution \(u_ 1,u_ 2(x,t)\) on any sphere \(| x| =R\) grows to infinity as \(t\to T_ 0\); if \(n_ 1n_ 2>0\), \(m>0\) then the solution \(u_ 1,u_ 2(x,t)\) grows to infinity as \(t\to T_ 0\) in the point \(x=0\) only. In the case of the initial-boundary problem in a bounded domain \(\Omega\) the solution \(u_ 1,u_ 2(x,t)\) is bounded for all \(x\in \Omega\), \(t>0\) under condition \(n_ 1n_ 2>0\), \(m<0\).
