A well-known fixed point theorem of \textit{M. A. Krasnosel'skij} [Am. Math. Soc., Transl., II. Ser. 10, 345--409 (1958; Zbl 0080.10403)], which combines the Schauder Fixed Point Theorem and the Banach Contraction Mapping Theorem, states that if \(S,T:K\to E\) are mappings on a non-empty closed conves subset \(K\) of a Banach space \(E\) such that (i) \(S\) is continuous with \(S(K)\subseteq \tilde K\) for some compact \(\tilde K\); (ii) \(T\) is a contraction with constant \(\alpha <1\); (iii) for any \(x,y\in K\), \(Tx+Sy\in K\) then there exists an \(x^*\in K\) such that \(Tx^*+Sx^*=x^*\). In this paper, the authors proved a similar fixed point theorem except that \(T\) is expansive rather than contractive. The main result is Theorem 2.2 which states that if \(S\) and \(T\) are as above with conditions (i); (ii') \(T\) is an expansive mapping; (iii') \(T(K)+z\supset K\) for each \(z\in S(K)\) then the same conclusion holds, i.e., there exists an \(x^*\in K\) such that \(Tx^*+Sx^*=x^*\). As an application, they gave conditions under which a certain class of nonlinear integral equations with delay have periodic solutions (Theorem 3.1).
