    The study of structural properties may be reduced to a study of linear differential equations \(F {\underline {\dot x}} (t) = G {\underline x}(t)\), where \({\underline x} \in {\mathbb C}^n\) is the state vector, and \(F, G \in {\mathbb C}^{n \times n}\) are square matrices with \(\det F = 0\). In these cases, the matrix pencil theory becomes a key tool. The pencils \(sF - G\) and \(F - \hat sG\) (\(s, \hat s \in {\mathbb C}\)) can be defined by the homogeneous matrix pencil \(sF - \hat s G\) (or equivalently by a pair \((F, -G)\)), since the important notion of duality. Thus, \(sF - G\) and \(F - \hat s G\) are related by the special type of bilinear transformation: \(s \rightarrow \frac{1}{\hat s}\). In this paper, a stabilization criterion for generalized linear systems mentioned above is proposed. Especially, for a given unstable homogeneous pencil matrix \(sF - \hat s G\), a bilinear transformation is determined such that the new homogeneous, bilinear equivalent matrix pencil is stable.
