Group method solution for solving nonlinear heat diffusion problems (Q924745)

In this paper there are studied solutions of nonlinear transient heat conduction problems subject to nonlinear boundary conditions due to a radiation heat exchange at the interface. The authors study the effectiveness of the method in obtaining invariant solutions for the system of partial differential equations. The main arguments used in the proofs are based on the invariance property under the translation group of transformations, which enables the authors to reduce the number of independent variables. The obtained differential equation is solved numerically via the shooting method to obtain the effects of heat transfer coefficient, density, and radiation number on the surface temperature for different geometrical regions.
