Let \(G\subset\text{GL}_d\) be a connected linear algebraic group defined over a field \(k\) finitely generated over the rational numbers. Then the order of any torsion subgroup of \(G(k)\) is bounded by a constant depending only on \(d\) and \(k\). For Abelian varieties \(G\) and number fields \(k\), a similar result is the torsion conjecture.
