Let \((M,g)\) be a smooth and compact \(n\)-dimensional Riemannian manifold and \(G\) be a closed subgroup of the group of isometries of \((M,g)\) with \(k=\min_{x \in M} \dim Gx\), where \(Gx\) stands for the orbit of a point \(x\in M\) under \(G.\) The author discusses the asymptotic behaviour in the framework of Sobolev spaces of sequences of solutions to critical equations involving the \(p\)-Laplacian such as \[ \Delta_{p,g}u+h_\alpha u^{p-1}=f u^{p^*-1} \] over \((M,g)\), which are invariant by \(G.\) Here \(p\in(1,n-k),\) \(\Delta_{p,g}=-\text{div}_g (| \nabla u| ^{p-2}_g \nabla u)\) and \(p^*=(n-k)p/(n-k-p)\) is the critical exponent for the embedding of the Sobolev space \(H^p_{1,G}(M)\) of the \(G\)-invariant functions in \(L^p(M)\), whose gradient lies in \(L^p(M),\) into the Lebesgue spaces \(L^q_G(M)\) of the \(G\)-invariant functions in \(L^q(M).\)
