Inventory with service time and transfer of customers and/inventory (Q928215)

The paper treats an inventory system with two parallel service facilities. If the difference of customers waiting at the facilities reaches a prespecified quantity, a transfer of a certain number of customers from the longer to the shorter queue is possible. Along with this customer transfer, depending on availability, a certain quantity of the inventory may also be transferred. For the inventory problem under consideration, a mathematical formulation and its analysis are presented. Then the stationary distribution of the resulting system is determined. Moreover, several measures to evaluate the performance of the system are given. Finally, a few numerical results are provided.
