Reichenbach's common cause of two correlated events in an orthomodular lattice is defined in [\textit{G. Hofer-Szabo, M. Redei} and \textit{L. E. Szabo}, Int. J. Theor. Phys. 39, 913--919 (2000; Zbl 0987.81020)]. An event \(c\) is called a common cause of \(a\) and \(b\) if \(a,b\) are compatible to~\(c\), conditionally independent (given~\(c\), as well as \(c^\perp\)) and \(\mu(a|c)>\mu(a|c^\perp)\), \(\mu(b|c)>\mu(b|c^\perp)\). The author proves that a common cause exists in a faithful state \(\mu\) if \(\mu(a\land b)>\mu(a)\,\mu(b)\), \(x\land y\neq0\) for any choice \(x\in\{a,a^\perp\}\), \(y\in\{b,b^\perp\}\), and the orthomodular lattice is complete and atomistic (what is really needed is the Darboux property of~\(\mu\)).
