A non-trivial elation about a point \(p\) of a generalized quadrangle \((\mathcal{P},\mathcal{L})\) is an automorphism of that generalized quadrangle that leaves invariant each line incident with \(p\) and that does not fix any point of \(\mathcal{P} \backslash p^\perp\). If \((\mathcal{P},\mathcal{L})\) admits a group \(G\) of elations about \(p\) acting regularly on \(\mathcal{P} \backslash p^\perp\), then this generalized quadrangle is called an elation quadrangle with elation group \(G\) and base point \(p\). Let \(q\) be an even prime power and let \(H(3,q^2)\) be the hermitian quadrangle. The author proves in this article that, given a point \(p\), there are exactly \(q^2\) elation groups of \(H(3,q^2)\) about \(p\). The author moreover proves that the \(q^2-1\) so-called exotic elation groups are pairwise isomorphic, while the remaining elation group is not isomorphic to any of the others.
