In the first part of the paper the authors formulate a series of nonclassical implicit function theorems. Given a smooth mapping \(F : X\times Y\to Z\), where \(X\), \(Y\) and \(Z\) are Banach spaces, they consider the existence of a locally defined mapping \(\phi: X\to Y\), that is a solution of the equation \(F(x,y)=0\) near a point \((x^\ast,y^\ast)\), at which the mapping \(F\) is degenerate (nonregular). The latter means that the derivative \(F'_y(x^\ast,y^\ast)\) is not invertible. Two cases of nonregularity are considered: when the operator \(F'_y(x^\ast,y^\ast)\) is not surjective, or when it has a nontrivial kernel. In both cases, using the constructions of \(p\)-regularity theory [see \textit{A. Tret'yakov} and \textit{J.~E.~Marsden} [Commun. Pure Appl. Anal. 2, No.~4, 425--445 (2003; Zbl 1053.58004)], the \(p\)-th order generalizations of the classical implicit function theorem are proved. In the second part of the paper, such generalized theorems are applied to study nonlinear boundary-value problems for second-order ordinary differential equations in cases close to resonance. In particular, a modified perturbation method for solving degenerate second-order boundary value problems with a small parameter is presented.
