The complex algebraic torus \(T=(\mathbb C^*)^n\) can be embedded into the complex projective \(n\)-space \(\mathbb P_n(\mathbb C)\). The Fubini-Study metric on \(\mathbb P_n(\mathbb C)\) restricts to a Hermitian metric on \(T\). The subject of this paper is the study of holomorphic maps \(f:\mathbb C\to T\) of slow growth with respect to this metric. If the derivative is bounded (i.e., \(f\) is a ``Brody curve''), such a map is a translate of a one-parameter subgroup of \(T\). (This was first proved by \textit{F. Berteloot} and \textit{J. Duval} [Enseign. Math. (2) 47, No. 3--4, 253--267 (2001; Zbl 1009.32015)]). In the paper under review, Tsukamoto generalizes this fact to the statement that polynomial growth implies that there are polynomials \(P_1,\ldots,P_n\) such that \[ f(z)=\left(e^{P_1(z)},\dots,e^{P_n(z)}\right). \] For related results in dimension one, see also \textit{J. Clunie} and \textit{W. K. Hayman} [Comment. Math. Helv. 40, 117--148 (1966; Zbl 0142.04303)].
