Let \(B\) a smooth projective curve over an algebraically closed field \(k\) of characteristic zero, and denote by \(F\) the function field \(k(B)\). Let \((X,D)\) be a pair consisting of a smooth projective variety \(X\) and a reduced effective divisor \(D \subset X\) with normal crossing. An integral model \(\pi : (\mathcal X, \mathcal D) \to B\) is a flat proper morphism \(\pi\) from a normal variety \(\mathcal X\) to \(B\) with generic fiber \(X\) and a closed subscheme \(\mathcal D \subset \mathcal X\) such that the restriction of \(\pi\) to \(\mathcal D\) is flat and has generic fiber \(D\). A point in \(X(F)\) gives rise to a section of \(\pi\), which meets \(\mathcal D\) in a finite set. Fixing a finite set \(S \subset B\) an \(S\)-integral point of the model is a point of \(X(F)\) such that for the corresponding section \(s\) we have \(s^{-1}(\mathcal D) \subset S\). The main result of the paper under review is the following: Assume that \((X,D)\) is a pair such that \(D\) is rationally connected and \(c_1(\mathcal N_{D/X})\) is numerically equivalent to a nontrivial effective divisor; then, given an integral model as above there exists a finite set of points \(S \subset B\) such that the \(S\)-integral points of \((\mathcal X, \mathcal D)\) are Zariski dense. This result has a corollary regarding the density of integral points on some log Fano varieties.
