The monograph is focused on presentation of recent results on some nonlinear parabolic-hyperbolic systems of partial differential equations arising from physics, mechanics and material science. Most of the results presented in this book are based on the original research of the author starting in 1997. The first topic studied in this book is compressible Navier-Stokes equations describing the fluid motion of conservation of mass, momentum and energy. Using clever application of energy estimates the author proves the existence of a maximal attractor for the compressible Navier-Stokes equations of a polytropic viscous and heat-conductive gas in bounded annular domains in \(\mathbb R^N\), \(N=2,3\). The author furthermore analyzes the global existence and asymptotic behavior of solutions to a a polytropic viscous and heat-conductive gas in domains with cylindrical symmetry in \(\mathbb R^3\). The second topic studied in this book is a 1D thermoviscoelastic system describing the motion of conservation of mass, momentum and energy in the thermoviscoelastic media. This part of the book is devoted to the analysis of existence of a universal attractor and long time behavior of solutions. The third topic addressed in this monograph is the analysis of the large time behavior of energy of multi-dimensional anisotropic elastic system. The book consists of ten chapters: 1. Preliminary; 2. A one-dimensional nonlinear viscous and heat conductive real gas; 3. A one-dimensional polytropic viscous and heat conductive gas; 4. A polytropic ideal gas in bounded annular domains; 5. A polytropic viscous gas with cylinder symmetry; 6. One-dimensional nonlinear thermoviscoelasticity; 7. A nonlinear one-dimensional thermoelastic system with thermal memory; 8. One-dimensional thermoelastic equations of hyperbolic type; 9. Blow-up for the Cauchy problem in nonlinear one-dimensional thermoelasticity; 10. Large-time behavior of energy in multi-dimensional elasticity. The book is self-contained and the material is well organized for reading. It contains all necessary tools and background results enabling the reader to grasp the technical points easily.
