Many phenomena display fractal features when plotted as functions of time, among them e.g. atmospheric pressure, levels of reservoirs and prices on the stock market, when considered on a fairly long time. \textit{F. B. Tatum} [see Fractals 3, No. 1, 217--229 (1995; Zbl 0877.28009)] studied the relationship between fractional calculus and fractals. For Weierstrass functions, \textit{K. Yao}, \textit{W. Y. Su} and \textit{S. P. Zhou} [Chaos Solitons Fractals 23, No. 2, 621--629 (2005; Zbl 1062.28012)] found a linear connection between the order of the fractional calculus and the fractional dimension of the graph of such functions. This paper investigates the connection between the box dimension for graphs of Besicovitch functions and the orders of the fractional calculus. This is more difficult to achieve, since the box dimension for graphs of Besicovitch functions may not exist always. In order to get positive results, additional assumptions are imposed in this paper. Then, again linear connections between the order of the fractional calculus and the fractional dimensions of the graph of Besiowiteh functions can be achieved.
