The author studies the question when a time reparametrisation transforms a Poisson system again into a Poisson system. More precisely, given a Poisson structure matrix \(J(x)\) of constant rank, he analyses when the matrix \(\eta(x)J(x)\) with a scalar function \(\eta(x)\) is again the structure matrix of a Poisson system, i.e. satisfies again the Jacobi equation. The three main results of the article are {\parindent =8mm \begin{itemize}\item[(i)]that for \(\eta(x)\) one can choose any globally defined Casimir function of the Poisson structure, \item[(ii)]that any function \(\eta(x)\) is admissable, if and only if the rank of the Poisson structure is at most \(2\) and \item[(iii)]that in the case of a structure matrix with full rank only constant functions are admissable. \end{itemize}} As an application the global reduction to the Darboux normal form is discussed for Poisson structures of rank \(2\).
