The author provides a general method to determine the spectrum of pseudodifferential operators of the form \(P=P(x,y,hD_{x},D_{y})\) as \(h\) tends to zero by using semiclassical techniques: more precisely a relation between the spectrum of \(P\) and the spectrum of a family of matrix valued \(h\)-pseudodifferential operators is established. The idea of the proof is to reduce the problem to the inversion of a Grushin problem and to use semiclassical symbolic calculus of \(h\)-pseudodifferential operators for the construction of the inverse. The scheme can be also applied to more general operators of the form \(P_{h}=(-h^{2}\Delta_{x}+Q(x)+1)^{-1}\), where \(Q(x)\) is a nonnegative selfadjoint operator.
