The authors study three-dimensional naturally reductive Lorentzian manifolds using Segre types of the Ricci operator. There are four Segre types of the Ricci operator. In the paper, it is shown that there are no three-dimensional naturally reductive Lorentzian manifolds whose Ricci operator is of the type S.A.1 or S.A.2. Further, a three-dimensional connected, simply connected naturally reductive Lorentzian manifold whose Ricci operator is of the type S.A.3 is isometric to the universal covering of SL(2,R) with the left-invariant Lorentzian metric and finally, a three-dimensional connected, simply connected naturally reductive Lorentzian manifold whose Ricci operator is of the type S.A.4 is isometric to either \(S_1^3\) , \(R_1^3\) , \(H_1^3\), universal covering of \(SL(2,R)\), \(SU(2)\) or the Heisenberg group with a left-invariant Lorentzian metric. This leads to the classification of three-dimensional naturally reductive Lorentzian manifolds. Similar results were obtained by another method, namely by the study of homogeneous geodesics, in the paper [\textit{G. Calvaruso} and \textit{R. A. Marinosci}, Adv. Geom. 8, No.~4, 473--489 (2008; Zbl 1157.53024)].
