The author discusses variants of the classical Busemann-Petty problem for the Gaussian measure, namely a dilation version and a translation version. Concerning the dilation version, a negative result is obtained showing that, for \(n\geq 7\), there are origin-symmetric convex bodies \(K,L\subset\mathbb{R}^n\) such that \[ \gamma_{n-1}(rK\cap \xi^\perp)\leq \gamma_{n-1}(RL\cap \xi^\perp), \] for all unit vectors \(\xi\) and all \(r> 0\), but \[ \gamma_n(K)> \gamma_n(L). \] Here, \(\gamma_n\) denotes the standard Gaussian measure in \(\mathbb{R}^n\) and \(\xi^\perp\) is the hyperplane orthogonal to \(\xi\). The translation problem asks whether, for two origin-symmetric convex bodies \(K,L\subset\mathbb{R}^n\), the assumption \[ \gamma_{n-1}([K\cap \xi^\perp]+ v)\leq \gamma_{n-1}([L\cap \xi^\perp]+ v), \] for all unit vectors \(\xi\) and all \(v\in\xi^\perp\), implies that \[ \gamma_n(K)\leq \gamma_n(L). \] It is shown that an affirmative answer (in all dimensions) follows from the more general result that \[ \gamma_n(K+ v)\leq \gamma_n(L+ v), \] for all \(v\in\mathbb{R}^n\), implies \(K\subset L\). The latter holds even for symmetric star bodies \(K\), but the convexity of \(L\) is essential. The paper also contains some further related results.
