The authors establish new oscillation criteria for the second order perturbed nonlinear difference equation \[ \Delta\big(a_{n-1}\,(\Delta x_{n-1})^\beta\big)+F(n,x_n)=G(n,x_n,\Delta x_n), \quad n\geq n_0, \tag{\(*\)} \] where \(\beta>0\) is a quotient of odd positive integers. Two main cases are considered separately depending on the divergence or convergence of the sum \(\sum_{n=n_0}^\infty(\frac{1}{a_n})^{\frac{1}{\beta}}\). The proofs are based on the Riccati technique. Some sufficient conditions guarantee the oscillation of equation (\(*\)) or the solutions tend to zero as \(n\to\infty\).
