The paper is concerned with existence and nonexistence of periodic solutions for the following first order neutral functional differential system \[ \left \{ \begin{aligned} &\frac{d}{dt} [x(t)-cx(t-\delta )] =a_1(t) g_1(x(t)) x(t) -\lambda b_1(t) f_1(x(t-\tau_1(t)), y(t-\rho_1(t))),\\ &\frac{d}{dt} [y(t)-cy(t-\delta )] =a_2(t) g_2(y(t)) y(t) -\mu b_2(t) f_2(x(t-\tau_2(t)), y(t-\rho_2(t))), \end{aligned} \right. \] where \(\lambda\) and \(\mu\) are positive parameters, \(c\) and \(\delta\) are constants and \(| c| \not =1\). The approach is to use a fixed point theorem in a cone due to Krasnoselskii. At least one positive periodic solution and two positive periodic solutions have been shown to exist, respectively.
