Utilizing a weight matrix, the authors study surfaces of prescribed weighted mean curvature. The authors derive a differential equation for the normal of any immersion with prescribed weighted mean curvature, generalizing work of \textit{U. Clarenz} and \textit{H. von der Mosel} [Pac. J. Math. 213, No. 1, 15--36 (2004; Zbl 1058.53003)]. They study graphs having prescribed weighted mean curvature and show that each corresponding function must satisfy an appropriate quasilinear elliptic equation. Applying barrier methods to this equation, they obtain height and boundary gradient estimates. Finally, they solve the Dirichlet problem for graphs of prescribed weighted mean curvature by applying the Leray--Schauder theorem.
