A Legendre curve in a contact metric manifold is a \(1\)-dimensional integral submanifold in the contact subbundle. In the present paper, the authors prove that such a curve in an \(\alpha\)-Sasakian manifold is a Frenet curve of order \(3\) and its torsion is always \(\alpha\). Moreover, they show necessary and sufficient conditions for Legendre curves to have a parallel mean curvature vector, having proper mean curvature vector, being harmonic, and being of type \(AW(k)\), \(1\leq k\leq 3\).
