Numerical approximations and solutions for the Eulerian formulation of shallow water equations are used in operational weather forecasting systems to provide local area forecasts. In this paper the authors introduce the time dependent variable resolution (different from the existing methods) which is used to focus the finest resolution grid on some local area where the flow has the greatest change and follow the feature of the flow at all time to obtain the local information as much as possible. The authors use Schmidt's conformal transformation and the semi-Lagrangian method for their study.
