This paper deals with non-tangential limits of slowly growing analytic functions in the unit disc \(\mathbb{D}\), and answers \textit{D. Girela}'s questions in [J. Lond. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 46, No. 1, 140--148 (1992; Zbl 0755.30031)]. For the above mentioned functions, Girela proved the following theorem: Let \(f\) be analytic in \(\mathbb{D}\) such that \[ M(r,f):=|f(z)|=\mathcal{O}((1-|z|)^{-\eta})=\mathcal{O}((1-r)^{-\eta}) \;\;\text{as}\;r\rightarrow 1, \;\;\;\text{for every}\;\eta>0,\eqno(1) \] and let \(\xi\in\partial\mathbb{D}\). Then \(f\) has a finite non-tangential limit at \(\xi\) if it satisfies one of the following conditions: (a) \(\sup_{0\leq r<1}(1-r)^{1/2}|f'(r\xi)|<\infty\); (b) \(f'\) is bounded on a curve \(\Gamma\) in \(\mathbb{D}\) which ends at \(\xi\). In the same paper, Girela asked the following questions. i. Can the exponent 1/2 in condition (a) be replaced by a larger one? ii. Can (1) be weakened to \[ M(r,f)=\mathcal{O}((1-r)^{-\eta}) \;\;\;\;\text{as}\;r\rightarrow 1, \;\text{for some fixed}\;\eta>0?\eqno(2) \] This article answers the first questions with `yes' by Theorem 1: Let \(f\) be analytic in \(\mathbb{D}\) such that (1) holds and let \(\xi\in\partial\mathbb{D}\). If \[ \sup_{0\leq r<1}(1-r)^{s}|f'(r\xi)|<\infty,\;\;\text{where}\;s<1, \eqno(3) \] then \(f\) has a finite non-tangential limit at \(\xi\). (Theorem 3 is a more general result of this type.) The authors answer the second question with `no' by Example 1. Then Theorem 2 shows a more precise result under the conditions (2) and (3); or (2), (b) and \(\eta<1\). In addition, Example 2 and Example 3 present two classes of slowly growing analytic functions which do not have a non-tangential limit at \(\xi\).
