Let \(S_0\) be the class of non-vanishing analytic univalent functions \(f(z)\) that are normalized by \(f(0)=1\). In the present paper, the author investigates extreme points and support points for the class \(S_0\) and proves a generalization of the classical ellipse theorem for the class \(S_0\). As applications, the author obtains Brickman's montonicity result for an omitted arc of the support, extreme points of the standard class of univalent functions \(f(z)\) normalized by \(f(0)=0=f'(0)-1\), and the ellipse theorem for a class of univalent function that fix both 0 and a point \(\alpha\).
