The paper gives a classification of those finite groups \(G\) whose subgroups are indecomposable as direct products. To the obvious candidates, namely the cyclic groups of prime power order and the generalized quaternions of order at least 8, the classification adds a special class of metacyclic groups. Reviewer's remark. This is a very strong condition, implying at once that all elements have prime power order. Perhaps the proof could have been shortened a bit by an appeal to a paper of \textit{R. Brandl} [Boll. Unione Mat. Ital., V. Ser., A 18, 491-493 (1981; Zbl 0473.20013)].
