In this very interesting paper, a particular Navier-Stokes equations with a control are considered in the case of periodic boundary conditions. A linearization is performed near two fixed points. A Fourier-series decomposition is used for the spectral classification in the zero viscosity limit. A heteroclinic conjecture for Euler equation is proposed, motivated by previous numerical results of authors; this is used to evaluate the Melnikov integral along the heteroclinic orbit. Melnikov prediction is compared with the numerical simulation and control of chaos in Navier-Stokes equations. The Lyapunov exponent is used as the measure of the chaos; it is proved that this exponent is depending on the computational time and the precision of computation. A numerical verification of the heteroclinic conjecture is given. Numerical simulation for 3D Navier-Stokes equations is obtained, byusing the Galerkin truncation. Due to the complexity of the problem, two simpler models for Navier-Stokes equation are proposed and numerical verification is performed. Some basic elements concerning the used mathematical tools are given in the two Appendices.
