This is a brief discussion on approximating a simple root of the nonlinear equation \(f(x)=0\) with a three-step iterative method: \[ x_{n+1}=x_n-\frac{f(x_n)}{f'(x_n)} - \frac{f(y_n+z_n)}{f'(x_n)},\quad n=0, 1, \dots. \] Here \(y_n=x_n- \frac{f(x_n)}{f'(x_n)}\) and \(z_n=- \frac{f(y_n)}{f'(x_n)}\). This method was proposed by \textit{M. A. Noor} and \textit{K. I. Noor} [ibid. 183, No.~1, 322--327 (2006; Zbl 1113.65050)]. It is shown that this method has merely quadratic convergence and is less efficient than the classiacl Newton method. Numerical examples illustrate the quadratic convergence of this method.
