    The very interesting paper under review deals with asymptotic estimates for the solutions to weakly nonlinear second-order elliptic equations in cylindrical domains. More precisely, let \(\Omega\subset \mathbb R^{n-1}\) be a bounded Lipschitz continuous domain, \(\hat x=(x_1,\dots,x_{n-1})\in \Omega\) and \(x=(\hat x, x_n)\) with \(-\infty<x_n<+\infty\). Consider the strictly elliptic, divergence form nonlinear equation \[ \frac{\partial^2u}{\partial x_n^2}+ \sum_{i,j=1}^{n-1} \frac{\partial}{\partial x_i} \biggl( a_{ij}(x) \frac{\partial u}{\partial x_j}\biggr)+\sum_{i=1}^{n-1} a_{i}(x) \frac{\partial u}{\partial x_i}- | u| ^{\sigma-1}u= 0\quad\text{in } \Omega\times \mathbb (0,+\infty), \tag{1} \] with bounded and measurable coefficients \(a_{ij}(x)\) and \(a_i(x)\). Let \(u(x)\) be a generalized solution to (1), defined by the standard way, which satisfies the conormal boundary condition \[ \frac{\partial u}{\partial \nu}= \sum_{i,j=1}^{n-1} a_{ij}(x) \frac{\partial u}{\partial x_j} \cos({\mathbf n},x_j) \quad\text{on }\partial\Omega\times \mathbb (0,+\infty), \tag{2} \] with \textbf{n} being the unit outward normal to \(\partial\Omega\). The main result of the paper states that each generalized solution of (1), (2) satisfies \[ u(x)=C_\sigma (x_n+T)^{\frac{2}{1-\sigma}}+ O(e^{-\alpha x_n})\quad \text{as}\;x_n\to+\infty \] where either \(| C_\sigma|= (\frac{2(1+\sigma)}{(1-\sigma)^2})^{\frac{1}{\sigma-1}}\) or \(C_\sigma=0,\) \(\alpha=\text{const}>0\) is independent of \(u,\) and the constant \(T\) depends on \(u.\) The proof relies on a technique based on a comparison with solutions to the linearized equation and precise qualitative estimates for them.
