The author considers generalised solutions to nonlocal boundary value problems for general higher order elliptic operators in two-dimensional domains. It would be too complicated to describe precisely these boundary value problems here. Roughly speaking one may think of conditions which relate the boundary values to values of the solution on curves inside the domain. Necessary and sufficient conditions for generalized solutions to be smooth are given.
