An \(A_\infty\)-algebra is a homotopy coherent analogue of a differential graded algebra. Suppose we have a cochain complex \(A\) and a subcomplex \(B\) of \(A\), which is a retract of \(A\), then if \(A\) has an \(A_\infty\)-algebra structure, one can use the contraction data to induce one on \(B\). A \(C_\infty\)-structure is the commutative analogue of an \(A_\infty\)-structure. In this paper, it is shown that given a \(C_\infty\)-structure on \(A\), the induced \(A_\infty\)-structure on \(B\) is also \(C_\infty\). This is applied to cosimplicial differential graded commutative algebras.
