This paper deals with upwind and midpoint upwind difference methods for time-dependent differential difference equations with layer behavior. The authors study the time dependent singularly perturbed difference equations with delay as well as advance and with boundary layer. They consider numerical schemes based on finite difference schemes to approximate the solution of the problem on an a priori adaptive piecewise uniform Shishkin mesh. They claim that a numerical approximation of retarded differential equations with error independent of the parameters can be achieved by the discussed method. Several numerical examples are given and efficiency of the methods is proved.
