It is well known that an element in the \(E_2\)-term of the Adams spectral sequence (ASS) computing \(\pi_*(S^0_p)\) which maps to a permanent cycle for the ASS of the mod \(p\) Moore complex does not have to be a permanent cycle itself. In the present paper, the author exhibits very strong assumptions which imply the possibility of the above conclusion in special cases. This can be used to show that the element commonly labeled \(h_0h_nh_m\) in the ASS at a prime \(p\geq 5\), \(m\geq n+2\geq 4\) is a permanent cycle, detecting a specific \(\gamma\)-element.
