For \(\vec n=(n_1,n_2,\dots,n_r)\in N^r\), the authors consider multiple Laguerre polynomials \(l_{\vec n}\) of degree \(2n\) orthogonal on \((0,\infty)\) with respect to the weights \(x^\alpha e^{-\beta_1x}\) and \(x^\alpha e^{-\beta_2x}\) where \(-1< \alpha\), \(0<\beta_1<\beta_2\). Strong asymptotic estimates, as \(n\) becomes large, are obtained for the monic polynomials \(L_n\) in every region in the complex plane in the case where \(L_n\) are the scaled monic polynomials of degree \(2n\) for which \(L_n(z)=n^{-2n}l^*_{\vec n}(nz)\), \(r=2\), \(\vec n=(n,n)\), and \[ \int^\infty_0L_n(x)x^{k+\alpha}e^{-n\beta_1x}dx=0,\quad \int^\infty_0L_n(x) x^{k+\alpha}e^{-n\beta_2x}dx=0, \] for \(k=0,1, \dots,n-1\). The authors use the Riemann surface \(R\) associated with the degree three algebraic equation \[ zw^3-(\beta_1+\beta_2)zw^2+ (\beta_1\beta_2z+\beta_1+\beta_2)w-2\beta_1\beta_2=0, \] which has four branch points which are the roots of the discriminant of its defining equation. The nature of the composition of the branch points splits the surface \(R\) into three cases according to \(\kappa<\beta_2/\beta_1\), \(1<\beta_2/ \beta_1<\kappa\), and \(\frac{\beta_2}{\beta_1}=\kappa\), where \(\kappa=\frac{7+3 \sqrt 3}{2}+\sqrt{\frac{36+21\sqrt 3}{2}}\). The analysis for these three cases differs, and only cases one and two are discussed in this paper. For each of these cases strong uniform asymptotics are obtained using the Deift-Zhou steepest descent method for the appropriate Riemann-Hilbert boundary value problem. The second case also employs the global opening of lenses devised in [\textit{A. I. Aptekarev, P. M. Bleher}, and \textit{A. B. J. Kuulaars}, Comment. Math. Phys. 259, 367--389 (2005; Zbl 1129.82014)].
