In the present paper it is considered an optimal boundary control problem in connection with the state equations of the steady flow equations and the unsteady transport equation. More specifically, the authors study both the optimization of the zeta potential distributions at the walls and the minimal dispersion in an electroosmotic microchannel. The associated optimal problem is studied by means of variational techniques. In order to solve the flow equations and the adjoint flow equations, the streamfunction-vorticity method is used to solve the equations without the need of the pressure boundary conditions. The iterative method with relaxation parameter is applied to deduce stable convergence properties.
