    This paper is a study of warped product CR-submanifolds of nearly Kähler manifolds. For two Riemannian manifolds \(( B,g_{1}) \) and \(( F,g_{2}) \) with projection maps \(\pi :B\times F\to B\) and \( \eta :B\times F\to F,\) and warping function \(f:B\to ( 0,\infty ) \), the manifold \(B\times F\) is the warped product with Riemannian metric \(g\) such that \(g( X,Y) =g_{1}( \pi _{\ast }X,\pi _{\ast }Y) +( f\circ \pi ) ^{2}g_{2}( \eta _{\ast }X,\eta _{\ast }Y) \) where \(\ast \) denotes the tangent map. Suppose \(( M,g) \) is nearly Kähler, so that \(( \nabla _{X}J) Y+( \nabla _{Y}J) X=0\), \(\forall X,Y\in \Gamma ( TM) \), where \(J\) is the almost complex structure tensor, \(\nabla \) is the Levi-Civita connection and \(g\) is the Hermitian metric on \(M\) with \( g(JX,JY)=g(X,Y)\). Extending the results of \textit{B. Y. Chen} [Monatsh. Math. 133, No. 3, 177--195 (2001; Zbl 0996.53044); Monatsh. Math. 134, No. 2, 103--119 (2001; Zbl 0996.53045)] on warped product CR-submanifolds of Kähler manifolds, the authors obtain similar results for nearly Kähler manifolds. In particular, they prove that there exist no warped product CR-submanifolds of a nearly Kähler manifold \(\widetilde{M}\) of the form \(M_{\bot }\times _{f}M_{T}\) where \( M_{\bot }\) is a totally real submanifold and \(M_{T}\) is a complex submanifold of \(\widetilde{M}\). For a warped product CR-submanifold of the form \(M=M_{T}\times _{f}M_{\bot }\) (also referred to as a CR-warped product) in a nearly Kähler manifold \(\widetilde{M}\) with second fundamental form \(\sigma \) on \(M,\) the authors prove that \(\| \sigma \| ^{2}\geq 2\dim ( M_{\bot }) \| \text{grad}(\ln f) \| ^{2}\). Further, if equality holds then \(M_{T}\) is totally geodesic and \(M_{\bot }\) is totally umbilical in \(\widetilde{M},\) and \(M\) is a minimal submanifold of \(\widetilde{M}\). The authors also give an example of a CR-warped product submanifold of \(S^{6}\).
