Let \(A\) be an associative algebra with polynomial identity over a field \(F\) of characteristic zero, \(\chi_n(A)=\sum_{\lambda\in\text{Par}(n)}m_\lambda(A)\chi_\lambda\) its cocharacter sequence, \(m_n(A)=\max\{m_\lambda\mid\lambda\in\text{Par}(n)\}\) and \(\text{mlt}(A)=\limsup\log_nm_n(A)\). The author proves that 1) \(\text{mlt}(A)\) is an integer and if \(1\in A\) then \(m_n(A)\) is asymptotic to a polynomial; 2) \(\text{mlt\,}M_k(F)={k^2-1\choose 2}\); 3) \(\text{mlt\,}M_k(E)=(k^2-1)^2\), where \(E\) is the infinite dimensional Grassmann algebra; 4) \(\text{mlt\,}M_{k,e}={2kl\choose 2}+{k^2+l^2-1\choose 2}\), where \(M_{k,e}\) is the Kemer algebra.
